The Story Behind the KMRNL ASR Magazine Brace V3
Some products start with an idea. Others start with a problem that needs a practical solution.
The KMRNL ASR Magazine Brace started with a simple goal: reduce unwanted magazine movement on the SIG SAUER CROSS platform without permanently modifying the rifle or magazine.
Can we reduce magazine movement with a simple, removable solution that integrates directly with the rifle?
That question led to the development of the ASR Magazine Brace and, through multiple design revisions, the current V3.
Solving a Practical Problem
Magazine movement does not necessarily prevent a rifle from functioning, but it can become noticeable while loading, carrying, repositioning, or applying pressure to the rifle from different shooting positions.
Rather than modifying the magazine or rifle, we approached the problem externally. The ASR Magazine Brace adds support around the magazine while mounting directly to the rifle.
The goal was simple: support the magazine, reduce unwanted movement, and keep the system clean and removable.
How the ASR Brace Became V3
The current V3 is the result of prototype testing and revisions to the earlier designs. Each version helped identify where additional strength, support, and improved mounting geometry were needed.
Thicker Construction
The V3 uses a more substantial body to increase rigidity while maintaining a compact profile.
Longer Support Cleats
The support surfaces were extended to provide better engagement around the magazine and more consistent stabilization.
Improved M-LOK Mounting
The mounting geometry was refined to create a more secure interface with the rifle while keeping installation straightforward.
Refined Geometry
Small dimensional changes throughout the design improved fitment and produced a more refined final component.
V3 is not simply a cosmetic update. It represents what we learned from designing, manufacturing, fitting, and revising the earlier versions.
Designed Around the SIG CROSS
The ASR Magazine Brace V3 was developed around the SIG CROSS platform rather than being designed as a universal accessory and adapted afterward.
This allows us to work directly with the rifle’s available mounting locations, magazine position, surrounding geometry, and specific magazine configurations.
Development has also included the SIG CROSS Magnum Sawtooth configuration and longer-action magazine systems used with cartridges such as .300 Winchester Magnum.
Fitment matters. Rifle configuration, magazine dimensions, caliber, and mounting location can all influence the final design.
Why We Prototype In-House
Designing and manufacturing our products in-house allows KMRNL to move quickly from a CAD revision to a physical prototype.
We can change a dimension, manufacture the revised part, test the fit, evaluate the result, and make another adjustment without waiting for an outside production cycle.
Sometimes improving a product requires a major redesign. Sometimes it only takes a few millimeters. Both matter.
Customer Feedback Drives Development
Real-world feedback is an important part of our development process. Different shooters use different magazines, rifle configurations, accessories, and shooting positions.
When customers identify a fitment issue or suggest a meaningful improvement, that information can influence future revisions and new product development.
The progression of the ASR Magazine Brace is a good example of that process.
Built for Function First
The ASR Magazine Brace is designed to perform a specific job without adding unnecessary complexity to the rifle.
Identify the problem. Design the solution. Build it. Test it. Improve it.
That process is central to how we develop products at KMRNL, and the ASR Magazine Brace V3 is one result of that approach.
Running a Different Configuration?
We continue to develop accessories around different rifle, magazine, and cartridge combinations.
If you are running a configuration we do not currently support, send us the following:
- Rifle platform
- Caliber
- Magazine manufacturer and model
- Mounting configuration
- Photos of the rifle and magazine area when possible
Your setup may help determine what we develop next.
